On March 23, 1986 when Richard didn’t make it home, his mother went to look for him. She found his bike shoved back in between a dumpster and the wooden enclosure at the back on 42nd and Valley. A witness reported she saw a boy matching Richard’s description approaching a blue truck with wooden side boards. Richard was found on March 30 in an embankment near 1668th and Ida. Detectives believe Richard was kept alive for at least seven days. Cause of death was ruled as a strangulation.
