On October 12, 2012 Brandin was walking to his friend's house in the area of 46th and Larimore Avenue. A vehicle pulled up next to him and the occupants started shooting at him. Omaha Police Officers were dispatched to the area at 2:40 p.m. Brandin was hit by gunfire and transported to a local hospital with CPR in progress and died from his injuries.
